What are the Trades?

The Trades refers to construction, and the various aspects of construction.  While this includes people who swing hammers to drive nails into wood, it's so much more.  The term encompasses electricians, painters, plumbers, and a variety of skilled craftsmen and craftsWOMEN!  Foster High School is in the process of adding a metal shop, which will be available after the current remodeling ends.

Here is an interview by Jennifer Fichamba, College and Career Counselor for Showalter Middle School, with, Ramon, who is an iron worker with Local 86.  Ramon came to the US from Mexico at age 14.  He attended Cashmere High School and technically was an ELL student, though they didn't offer ELL classes at his school.
