Teaching Thanksgiving

Teaching Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches we would like to take a moment to encourage our families to dedicate their days off to reflect on being grateful for the many accomplishments reached during the year and for the many friends and family who make those achievements possible through their love and support.  And we would also like to ask families to use this special holiday to celebrate responsibly and remember the sacrifices that our Native-American tribes made centuries ago and even into the present day in order to make our great nation what it is today.

Our Tukwila School District Race and Equity Committee has found a few resources that you can read and share that help students, and adults alike-- learn about the roots of Thanksgiving and will assist everyone in learning more about the Native cultures in our country.  The great thought provoking ideas in the information will also keep shaping and opening young minds and continue a habit of seeking education even during holiday breaks.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays from all of us at Tukwila School District.
