At the Regular Board Meeting held Tuesday, May 28th, the Tukwila Board of Directors passed Resolution 886 outlining the policies in place to combat implicit and explicit biases, racism and bigotry. The resolution passed unanimously (Director Will Gillespie was absent).
"Through resolutions like this we will hold the District accountable for making sure that our students and staff are learning and working in a safe environment," said Board of Directors President Tracy Russell. "We stand committed to sending a very visible message about our ongoing efforts to be an advocate for social justice and equality." said Director Russell.
Through this resolution the Board is committed to enforcing policies of inclusion and changing the racial climate to be one of support and void of intimidation and harassment.
