RE: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
I know that many of you are concerned about the Coronavirus currently in the news and here in King County. I want to assure you that at this time, we have no known cases of COVID-19 in Tukwila. There are no students or staff being monitored at this time. School will continue on its normal schedule.
Rest assured that we will remain in contact and in communication with the King County Department of Health, Washington State Department of Health and the City of Tukwila to address any changes as they develop. Key information will be shared with the community as it becomes available.
There are things that we can all do to help contain the virus, and I am writing today to ask for your help by doing the following:
Wash your hands often and well – hot water, soap and a duration of at least 20 seconds are the three critical steps
Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when hand washing is not available
Cover coughs and sneezes with your sleeve or tissue
Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects
Avoid touching your face unless you have just washed your hands
Stay home if you or your child are sick
It is also important that we lean on trusted sources for news. There's a lot of misinformation out there - and King County Public Health and the Washington State Department of Health are your best resources on this issue. If you have questions, and would like additional information, you can go to our website, www.tukwilaschools.org, which has links to King County Public Health and Washington State Department of Health.
We will continue to keep you informed of any developments. As always, should you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
