Please join us in extending an enthusiastic welcome to Mr. Theodore “Ted” Howard, II as he has accepted the position of Chief Academic Officer for the Tukwila School District!
While establishing himself as a learner, collaborator, and leader in elementary and secondary education, Mr. Howard has served students and staff for more than 20 years in the roles of para educator, classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University and his master’s degree from Heritage University. His extensive experience in the classroom and in school leadership have prepared him well for the role of Chief Academic Officer in Tukwila.
Mr. Howard writes, “As leaders, we need to break down barriers and make sure that every student is seen as an individual. This requires developing pathways for every student to succeed. We must engage with our families to identify their children’s strengths and weaknesses. We must also develop trust and include both our students and their families in the development of a plan for their success. This is a partnership…. I have the skills to develop new relationships and see the positive in people in order to lift up our kids to make a difference. Our singular focus is on our young people and we should never lose that focus. We must use this as a guidepost to when we make all of our decisions. Kid focused through and through!”
To find balance in his life, Mr. Howard enjoys meditating, spending time with family, and fitness. It is important to have balance in your life.
Once again, please warmly welcome Mr. Howard to Tukwila School District!
