AVID

AVID is a program that stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID equips students with what they need to succeed on a path to college and career success.

AVID is an elective class at Foster High School and Showalter Middle School. For one period a day, students receive the additional academic, social, and emotional support that will help them succeed in their school’s most rigorous courses. Students apply to enter this program and are interviewed before being placed in the class. A typical AVID student might be a B or C student, who is a first generation college going student and would benefit from the extra support AVID offers.

AVID started at Foster in 2010 and our first graduating class of AVID students was in 2014.
